Year 6 Transition Information

Welcome to Year 7 at Campion School!

We are thrilled to welcome you and your family to the Campion community. Starting secondary school is a big milestone, and it’s perfectly normal to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. At Campion, we are dedicated to making your transition into Year 7 as smooth, positive, and enjoyable as possible.

Our school prides itself on strong values, high expectations, and a welcoming, supportive environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally. We believe that working closely with families is essential to your success, and we look forward to partnering with you throughout this exciting journey.

You might be wondering what your first day will look like, which lessons you’ll attend, who your teachers will be, or how you’ll find your way around. Don’t worry! Everyone starting Year 7 is in the same situation, and we’ll ensure you feel confident and comfortable from day one. You’ll take part in a welcome assembly, meet your form tutor and classmates, and receive plenty of guidance to help you settle into your new routine. Friendly faces will be around every corner.

Top tips for starting Year 7:

Be organised: Pack your bag the night before and check your timetable.
Ask questions: No question is too small — teachers and older students are here to help.
Get involved: Try a club or activity and discover new interests.
Be kind to yourself: It’s normal for it to take a little time to settle in.
Make new friends: Smile, introduce yourself, and remember everyone is eager to make friends.

This page will be your handy guide for everything you need before September from what to expect on your first day to learning about your teachers, your subjects, and helpful tips from current students. Parents and carers will also find useful information to support their children through this important transition.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will achieve as you begin this new chapter. Welcome to Year 7, your Campion adventure starts here!

School Bus Information

Transport to Campion School

Bus passes are issued directly by West Northampton County Council and sent to Campion School for distribution to students.

Bus drivers are informed of new school starts and will accommodate new student travel to and from school while they await their pass (this is usually for a maximum of 2 weeks after their start date).  Bus drivers and Campion staff will then expect to be shown the pass by the students as they board and exit the bus.

The County Council make the final decision on which bus students are allocated, depending on their home address. Currently, Campion uses the following bus companies.

Country Lion
Upton, Hunsbury Meadows, Banbury Lane, Kislingbury, Rothersthorpe, Harpole, Milton Malsor, Nether Heyford, Flore, Gayton
Students from Blisworth can access the Gayton bus, however, this must be paid for

Hunters Coaches
Whilton, Brington, Stowe, Nether Hayford, Litchborough, Pattishall
Students from Weedon are from a designated area only.

Students are expected to arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to the collection time. If the bus is late in the morning, students are expected to wait for at least 20 minutes before taking alternative options.

Dear Parents/Carers

PERIPATETIC MUSIC TUITION AT CAMPION SCHOOL 2025-26

Please find below details of the instrumental and vocal lessons offered at Campion School with NMPAT (Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust). NMPAT have increased their prices again, and therefore, there will be an increase in fees payable this year.

We have, however, maintained the same structure of lessons offered in order to make them financially accessible and effective for our students. We will continue to offer 20-minute individual lessons or 20-minute group lessons, which effectively half the price of an individual lesson, and for grades 1-3, is an effective way to learn your instrument and prepare for an exam.

The prices for lessons are as follows:

  • 20-minute Individual Lesson- £583.50
  • 20-minute Group Lesson - £291.75

These prices are for the whole academic year and this can be paid in full by 1st September or spread across 8 payments from September to April, as illustrated on the Microsoft application form. All payments will be made via ParentPay.

Lessons are available in the following Instruments:

  • Guitar
  • Drums
  • Vocals
  • Upper Strings
  • Lower Strings
  • Woodwind
  • Brass
  • Piano
  • Music Production and Technology

Lessons will commence during the second week of term in September and there will be 33 lessons over three terms. Lesson times will be displayed on the notice board in the music block. If your child starts part way through the year, you will only be charged for the number of lessons provided and advised of the amount owed.

To apply for lessons, please complete the online form via the link provided below. We are paperless, and this is your contract with the school. If your child is in receipt of Pupil Premium funding, 25% of the total cost of peripatetic lessons will be covered by this. Please indicate this on the online form and we will confirm this with you. Forms must be completed by Wednesday, 18th June 2025.

Please be aware that once your son/daughter commits to music lessons and the form is completed, this will commit you to lessons, and a full term’s notice will be required to stop lessons. This must be made in writing to both me and the Finance office. You will be liable for payment of all the lessons in this notice period.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email a.beddoe@campionschool.org.uk
