At Campion, we believe that reading is more than just an academic skill – it's a gateway to imagination, personal growth, and lifelong learning. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of reading for pleasure, where every student has the opportunity to explore new worlds, ideas, and experiences through books.

Tutor Time Reading

Each week a Tutor Time slot is set aside for independent reading and/ or class readers.  This allows students to choose a book of their interest, encouraging a love of reading in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, the aim is to make reading a joyful and engaging activity. This time offers students the freedom to explore books that ignite their curiosity and passion, helping them develop a personal connection to reading.

Daily P5 Reading Slots

In addition to Tutor Time, we also have a dedicated P5 reading slot each day, where students engage in focused reading activities for the first 5- 10 mins of each P5 lesson. These sessions are designed to not only improve literacy skills but also create a routine that encourages reading every day. The P5 reading slots offer structured opportunities for students to dive deeper into texts, benefit from the calming influence of reading and just enjoy the moment!

To further support our commitment to reading, we have integrated Sparx Reader into our school’s reading program. Sparx Reader is an innovative, personalised tool that helps students enhance their reading comprehension and fluency. By providing a tailored reading experience, Sparx Reader adapts to each student’s ability level, ensuring that they are consistently challenged while also building confidence in their reading skills.
