Psychology

Psychology

The purpose of Psychology is to enable learners to weigh up the strengths and weaknesses of different research studies and theories.

This helps to judge the merits of the different approaches and explanations for any given form of human behaviour.  This will help students become global citizens  as they will have an awareness of cultural bound theories and behaviours, and how human nurture (over different cultures) can affect behaviour.   It will also equip them for adult life” -  being able to make judgements about the value of information presented.  Students will also be able to approach debate with respect, appreciating that everyone is a different mix of genetics and upbringing, and to understand that humans have differing reasons for their behaviours.
