Dear Parents and Carers

As we draw to the close of Autumn Term 1 I would like to say thank you to you all for your continued support which makes a huge difference in enabling all our students to be the very best they can be.  I would like to share with you some updates as we move into Autumn Term 2.

Updates in staffing

Year 10 parents we have been successful in appointing a Head of Year for the group, Mr Alex Brown, starting on 4th November.  He has significant experience in secondary settings and has worked with us for a year as part of the Think For The Future programme so many of students will know Mr Brown.  Contact details will be shared.  We thank Mrs S Hammond for stepping in and supporting year 10 along with Miss Rooney and Miss Bain.

All parents

I have spoken with a number of parents who have raised their concerns regarding 20 minute detentions at lunchtime sharing that this does not provide sufficient time for a break and lunch.  We take your concerns seriously and I have therefore made the decision to reduce the 20 minute detention to 15 minutes giving 15 minutes for students to purchase food when the canteen areas are significantly quieter and have a rest break.  We are considering the possibility of adjusting the school day to lengthen the lunchtime.  This would not impact on a change in the length of the school day retaining an 8.35 am start and a 3.05 pm finish.  We currently have a working party on this and will keep you updated.

Year 11 and 13 Mock Exams

Year 11 and 13 teams have shared with all parents and students dates of the examination series and revision resources.  These are on the website https://www.campionschool.org.uk/61/exams  Good luck to all students.  This is a challenging time for students and if in need of additional support please liaise with your tutor who will signpost staff in school that you can talk with.

Curriculum changes – all parents

Information regarding the delivery of PSHCE was shared with all parents and carers last week.  We look forward to the implementation of this programme of study after half term.

Thank you again.  Wishing you a good half term break.

Yours sincerely
Trish
